I imagine this is a US based forum? Great to see, as I've never seen a Gemini mini bikes forum anywhere else.
So anyway hello from Australia. I have 4 Gemini's: an SST50, a Gemini 50, a Gemini 65 and a Deltek 65 (same as the Gemini 65). All undergoing restoration, 2 nearly finished.
After chatting with Steve Bysouth, our local Gemini expert (perhaps some have heard of him as he's written magazine articles on them), here in Victoria. I discovered that the 65cc Gemini's never went to the USA.
I saw on the forums index, that there is no section for the 65's... So I just wanted to put the idea out there.
As a precis, the 65's are basically a Gemini / SST 50 with a 43mm bore and a 42mm stroke (61cc). The crank is from the SST 80 (same conrod as the 50 but the crank throw is 21mm not 20, hence 42mm stroke). The barrels can be a Yamaha YJ1 or YJ2 (42mm) bored 1mm oversize (+ perhaps some other 60cc Yamaha barrels?). Head is from a JT1. Same carb but bigger mainjet etc. They do go a little better than the 50's.
Cosmetically the Delteks (candy yellow with a tank sticker and a different seat cover) where the first few hundred serial number wise, and the Gemini 65's (candy orange with a tank sticker) the later ones. I believe less than a thousand were made, making them quite rare these days. Both the 65 models use the SST 80 handlebars and have a slightly longer fork travel / inner tube length.
Anyway I look forward to chatting with you guys.
Thanks,
Hugh (mungus)

So anyway here is photo of the two types of 65's. These are both Steve Bysouth's, in Victoria AUSTRALIA. Thanks to Steve for all the work hes done accumulating and restoring a whole collection of Geminis. And for his support of current owners and restorers by supplying NOS parts and advice.

A couple of photos of my own Deltek 65. The hawk eyed may notice the Z50 tail light backing plate. Still tracking down some OEM Gemini ones which are around 22 mm thick. Likewise the throttle control / brake lever perch. None of my 4 Geminis have the OEM ones, all were running god knows what... So I've bought and modified some early Yamaha YL2 throttle controls to make a reasonably close replacement. From the same family and period and accepts the Gemini throttle tube & grip. However the cable needs to be per Yamaha (ironically easier than the Gemini 2 piece job). Anyone knowing of an available Gemini 50/65 throttle control, please let me know...

I put a big bore kit from a Yamaha FS1 on one of my Mavericks and i am pretty sure it pumped it up to a 60cc. The down side the stock muffler will not fit but the 80cc will. Made a noticeable difference. Ordered it from Britain.

Sounds like the same ones I’ve seen. I’ve bought a few things off the UK fizzy bike sites. But as you say you change the cylinder too, requiring the exhaust change.
If you do the maths you can also get there with the 44mm piston kits too, but as I say, Gemini used the 80 crank and a slightly bigger piston with a stock Yamaha barrel, I guess the argument is you have more oversizes available that way.

The company i purchased from did a little port cleanup on it too. It was only around $130 for barrel, piston, rings, wristpin and circlips and shipping. By the time i purchased a cylinder and had the work done and parts i would not of been that big of a difference. I do have a few oversize Yamaha ringsets and pistons and barrels so i will go the bore route next time. I am restoring a Yamaha L5T right now so i have taken a break from the Gemini's. I need to get a couple of Gemini's or Maverick's ready for a 5 hour endurance run they are doing not far from me. Should be fun.
